Burglars are active all year round, but certain periods have a higher risk.
Autumn and winter
The dark months (October to March) are traditionally the peak season for burglars. It gets dark early and that provides cover. Ensure good outdoor lighting and always lock up properly.
Vacation periods
During vacation periods, many homes are empty. Use timers for lighting and ask neighbors to collect your mail.
Summer
In summer, windows and doors are more often open. Never leave a window open when you're not home, not even on the first floor.
All year round
